San Francisco is known as a very environmentally-friendly city, with strict laws concerning car emissions and the banning of plastic bags from supermarkets. Now a new issue has emerged for which the city has found an original, inventive solution: Ecological public toilets. According to San Francisco, California cleaning services, there have been 10,000 incidents of human waste that had to be cleaned up from the city’s streets in the past year alone. “The Ecological Toilet Project,” as it’s officially called, hopes to install public facilities that require neither flushing nor any connection to the sewer system, but rather collect the waste and convert it into compost. Some San Francisco maid services are hopeful the eco-toilet will catch on and be incorporated into hotels as well, making their jobs a whole lot easier.
