Martha Stewart Clean Products to Hit Shelves Soon

The popular Atlanta-based retail chain Home Depot will begin selling Martha Stewart cleaning products in early 2010 (as reported by Associated Content). These products are sure to become an instant hit with eco-friendly consumers who want a green way to clean.

The 10 Martha Stewart products that are set to hit shelves include the Home Depot "eco option" label, which guarantees that all products sold under this label have met specific eco-criteria. Since Martha Stewart has been a popular icon within the home world since the early Eighties, the Home Depot expects the new line of cleaning products to sell rather well.

Specifics regarding the actual products have not been released yet, but consumers can expect these products to perform a number of tasks from cleaning toilet bowls to creating streak-free windows. While you may have to wait until 2010 to see what Martha’s cooked up, you don’t need to settle for products that aren’t eco-friendly in the meantime.

In fact, you can create your own household cleaning products with just a few items that you probably already have in your pantry. Take a look at these alternatives to traditional cleaners, and consider trying some of these homemade concoctions the next time that you need to clean.

  • Mix water and two capfuls of dish soap together in order to clean floors and countertops. This solution is mild and it works incredibly well. Also, you won’t have to worry about walking barefoot on floors that have been washed with a toxic floor cleaner if you stick to soap and water!
  • Vinegar is a powerful cleaning aid that can be used for a number of different things. You can disinfect your kitchen counters and bathroom sinks with a solution of vinegar and water.
  • The next time that you spill on your carpet, don’t fret. Instead, place a bit of baking soda on the spot, allow the soda to sink into the carpet, and then gently dab the area with a wet cloth. The baking soda should react with the stain in order to remove the stain completely.
  • Have you ever wondered what’s inside of furniture cleaner? Aside from a bunch of chemicals, most furniture cleaners include some type of citrus. To make your own furniture cleaner, add a squirt of lemon or orange to a bit of water. The fresh scent will perk up any room, while the water will effectively clean your furniture. You can also add a bit of olive oil to furniture for extra shine.
